MY Full Gallery #aDogaDay Paintings. A Month of Joy and PractiCe
(Full Gallery of Paintings Below Writing)
#aDogaDay project came about from my need to get my head back into painting dogs, sharpening up my painting hand and, actually finding the dogs themselves to paint.
The goal was simple: to paint one dog every day for around month. It was a self-set challenge to keep my experiment. Now, as I look back at my 30’ish days of brushes, colors, and beautiful dogs, I can’t help but feel pride at keeping up and making all those studies.
Each dog had its own story. I put up a shout out on Instagram for my clients and followers to send me their dog photographs, if I painted it, they would get first dibs on purchasing for around £100 - a good price for a 30 x 30cm oil painting. The dog photographs came tumbling in and my desktop folder was brimming with much loved family members.
With each painting, I felt my confidence growing. I found my painting hand fairly quickly and my confidence growing with each dog I finished.
One of the most rewarding aspects of #aDogaDay was hearing from the people who wanted me to paint for them. Each time someone received their dog’s portrait, their joy was my joy. I received the most beautiful letters, comments and emails which make my heart swell each time I read them.
SO What’s Next?
#aDogaDay has definitely supercharged my inspiration for painting more dog portraits this year, and I’m delighted to say that commissions are already rolling in.
I have a dedicated Dog Portrait Painting page here, setting out all you need to know about my painting your dog for you. Needless to say, any questions, I’m here on info@samanthabarnes.co.uk
So a HUGE thank you to everyone who followed along, cheered me on or trusted me with their dog’s portrait. Your support has meant the world to me.
Much love,
Sam x
