A Cracking Week At Work

A bit like a ship’s logbook, I think it would be nice to spend a little time looking at the past week and reminding myself of achievements reached, sales of paintings and other points of interest.

It’s SO easy just to move on, but to actually making ourselves think about what last week looked like, helps no-end when it comes to evaluating things on the table (or easel) for this new one coming along.

I am delighted to say that I sold well this last week. 4 large paintings heading off to new homes, all sold via my website.

A delight for a practising artist.

Freesias and Olive Leaves

Daffodils

Darling Dahlias

Jug and Oranges

Alongside these paintings selling, I led a workshop on Tuesday evening for my fellow Artists, Makers and Creatives called ‘Selling Your Work via Online Art Galleries’. During our hour together, we talked about online gallery platforms such as Saatchi Art, ArtFinder and more home-orientated sales places such as NotontheHighSt.com. I spoke about my own experiences of selling through these secondary spaces - both the pros and the cons for working artists. It was very much fun and the feedback was ace so that was a win all round.

Much time last week was spent learning too. Setting up a Social Enterprise (Artists, Makers and Creatives is now a CIC - a Community Interest Company) and as such we can begin to apply for some grant funding, but only once our ducks are in line.

Ducks like legalities, Insurances, Bank accounts, Directors in place, Safeguarding Policies and Equal Opportunity Statements. This is much to take on, but I’m truly enjoying learning about it all.

For your reference, I’ve been working with an artist called Kelly Thorn (or Kexx Community Artist) who is a font of all knowledge about such things. I joined her online programme for her guidance and if anyone has a seed of an idea for a Social Enterprise that they might like to open, Kelly is most definitely your woman. You can find her details here. Her YouTube films are a fabulous way to begin your thinking. I’m really not sure I could have done all this without her guidance and encouragement.

Meetings are taking place. I much prefer to work over Zoom so I can crack on with my day job too along with zero temptations of extra coffees and muffins ❤️

So to say that it’s all looking rather good.

Add in my 53rd Birthday, it was a great week and I am grateful for it all.

Much love and more soon
